How to Create and Verify PayPal account in Nepal?
In this blog, I talk about how exactly you can create and verify a PayPal account in Nepal.
When I started out as a Digital Marketer in Nepal, I was desperately looking for a solution.
A solution that will allow me to make an international payment, take on freelancing jobs and do Digital Marketing in Nepal.
There were very limited resources available and most of the explanations were vague. Finally, I had to figure it all out by myself.
Let me tell you upfront. These steps are not easy. You need to work a little hard and follow some additional steps. That’s just how it is in Nepal.
However, I cover absolutely everything you need to know in detail about creating PayPal in Nepal and owning a MasterCard in Nepal.
So let’s get right to it, shall we?
Let’s address some common FAQs
Sadly, the answer to this question is No. Even though Nepal is listed among the PayPal supported countries, there is no way to verify your account from Nepal.
PayPal won’t be verified without an International credit or debit card. Currently, Nepal’s banking system is not recognized internationally.
But don’t worry. There is a workaround. I wouldn’t be writing this blog if there wasn’t.
This has something to do with the policy set by Nepal Rastra Bank. The central bank of Nepal prevents any Nepali citizen without a foreign visa to get an international credit or debit card.
So, this is not PayPal’s fault, it is our banking system which is preventing this from happening.
Since PayPal is not available in Nepal, the best alternative to it is getting a Payoneer MasterCard. Payoneer provides you with a virtual bank account which allows you to make international payments.
Yes. Payoneer is a global payment gateway. You can use Payoneer MasterCard to make online purchases, receive payments as a freelancer and provide Digital Marketing services in Nepal.
Also, Payoneer MasterCard is your best option to verify PayPal from Nepal.
Thus, if Payoneer fulfills your requirement for international payments, feel free to skip to Step 2 of the blog where I teach how to get a Payoneer MasterCard.
Now that we’ve cleared some doubts, let’s get started on how you can overcome the PayPal limitation:
PayPal in Nepal
Follow these steps to create and verify your PayPal account in Nepal.
1. Make a PayPal account
Wait! I thought you said, PayPal is not available in Nepal? So why would I make one?
Good Question. Yes, PayPal is not available in Nepal, that doesn’t mean you cannot make an account.
Sign-Up to PayPal and make an account.
Enter your details and just like that you have a PayPal account.
Now, here comes the difficult part. You now own a PayPal account but it is unusable until you enter your card or bank details.
You cannot link PayPal to the card provided by Nepalese banks.
This is where Payoneer comes in.
Let’s move to the next step.
2. Sign Up with Payoneer
Signing up with Payoneer is just as easy. Click the button below to join (affiliate)
Enter your details. Make sure you enter the address correct. Most importantly, enter the nearest zip code along with your full address.
The reason for this is, after your Payoneer account has been created, they send you MasterCard to your address. Therefore, entering the correct address is vital.
Once you follow these instructions (sometimes they may ask for your photograph as a proof), you now have a Payoneer account.
Couple of years ago, Payoneer would have sent you your MasterCard for free once you completed the account setup.
Unfortunately, this is not the case now.
Since Payoneer had to deal with lots of fake accounts, now, you need to have at least 30$ worth of money in your Payoneer account to be eligible to order a card.
Don’t worry there is a solution.
There are many Payoneer account holders in Nepal that will be happy to transfer $30 in your account for a small fee.
There are Facebook groups like Online Workers in Nepal, where you can find these people.
Now, you have your very own Payoneer account with $30 balance.
Go on and order your very own Payoneer MasterCard. They might take a couple of months to arrive.
Ya I know! A couple of months is a long time to wait.
That’s just how it is in Nepal.
Once you get your Payoneer MasterCard, login to Payoneer and activate your card.
3. Connect Payoneer with PayPal
We are on the last step of our journey. Here is what we have so far:
- An unverified PayPal account
- A Payoneer account and a MasterCard
While logged in on Payoneer, if you go to Global Payment Service.
You will notice the virtual bank accounts provided to you by Payoneer.
You can also request accounts from Europe, UK, Australia and much more.
Click on View Details to learn more. Read carefully and do an extensive research before you begin transferring and receiving amounts globally.
If you have any questions, you can ask the Payoneer Customer Service. They are known for having great customer support.
Go on to your PayPal account >> Wallet >> Link your Bank Account.
This video might be a helpful guide.
Currently, people are having problems connecting Payoneer to PayPal. This is because PayPal is hesitant to accept a virtual bank account provided by Payoneer.
This problem is explained in detail by a Payoneer representative on Quora.
The solution is to ask Payoneer customer service for a new account that is accepted by PayPal.
And there you have it!
Your very own PayPal account for you to use.
Above steps too difficult? Here’s an easier way
This is how most of the people in Nepal are using PayPal.
I’m sure someone from your family is living abroad. Creating a PayPal account from a PayPal acceptable country (most preferably India) is very easy.
You can ask them to create a PayPal account for you.
Here is how this would work:
- Ask them to create a brand new bank account (so that their personal account won’t be involved) in their name
- Create a new PayPal account
- Link the new bank account with the newly created PayPal
- Ask them for username and password (which you can change later)
- In order to withdraw and load money into your account, you can ask another PayPal user or you can send money directly into your foreign bank account(if the account is made from India)
I understand, for most of you, this might be too much to ask of someone.
But hey, if you don’t ask, the answer is always No, right?
Hire a Digital Marketer
If you don’t want to go through all these troubles. There is always an easier way.
You can always hire someone else to do the job for you. There are plenty of Digital Marketing Agencies in Nepal that provide these services.
Therefore, these are the steps you need to follow to get you very own MasterCard in Nepal and to get your PayPal account verified in Nepal.
Let me know if you have some questions.
